Mt. Hood will always hold a special place in my heart. This is the place where my photography career was kickstarted, and I walked away from that volcano with so many amazing friendships and good times. On a drive between Portland and Bellingham, I saw this incredible sunrise unfold, and as I went over the last bridge into Washington I pulled off to take a photo. It was excruciatingly cold that day, possibly -20 if my memory serves me correctly. I remember my teeth chattering as I stumbled down the bank of the river to find the angle I liked. These are the moments that make outdoor photography so special. It was 4 in the morning, there was no one around, and I was freezing my butt off, but still enjoying the solace of that single moment.
